How To Tuesday
"Chevron has been the rage in scrapbooking for sometime now! I see layouts using chevrons that inspire me all the time, but many of them are a bit too labor intensive for me! I’m here to show you a quick and easy way to create a bold chevron layout using a 6x6 pad of paper. My layout is 8.5x11, but this would also work for a 12x12 layout with a border. You will need a 6x6 pad, a trimmer, and your adhesive. I chose to use the Tricks and Treats 6x6 pad for my project." - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member
The first step is simply cutting your piece of 6x6 paper diagonally.
Next, trim two inches off each side of the triangle.
Finally, trim an inch off the bottom of each triangle.
This is the base shape for your chevron pattern. Repeat this process until you have 18 - 20 triangles.
To create your layout, score your 8.5x11 piece of cardstock right down the middle at 4.25”. Begin at the top and reverse layer your triangles moving toward the bottom. Be sure to only use adhesive at the top of each shape for now or you won’t be able to slide the next triangle in underneath!
Finally, add a few more triangles to the top so that the chevron pattern is consistent from the beginning, and trim off the edges (if you are making an 8.5x11 layout).
Complete your layout by placing your chevron pattern in the desired place on your cardstock background, add your photos, and embellish!
When you have finished your layout you are left with a bunch of scraps from this project – both mini triangles and long rectangles. I used both to create a couple extra Halloween projects!
