How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "The Mr. & Mrs." giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "The Mr. & Mrs. Winner" in the subject line.

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Zoe Nemburt.  Zoe created this absolutely stunning background to her layout using the "bonus" strips from our patterned papers.  Here's what Zoe had to say ... "Did you know that all the paper collections Pebbles creates have a reverse side on the barcode strip with an awesome complimentary design? I have to say I love them the possibilities are endless but today I want to show how to use them as a background element."  And here are Zoe's step by step instructions ...

First, I used my trimmer to cut off all the strips. I used 2 sheets of each paper to have this many strips, I then sorted the strips into 2 sets with 1 of each strip in each set.

Next, I just laid them down in alternating colours.  You don’t want to have all the black strips and cream strips next to each other so spread the colours evenly.

Next, I began to weave in the other set of strips again remember to alternate between colours and also with each new row you weave into the opposite strips than the row above.

I just adhered a piece of scrap cardstock to the back to help keep the strips in place, I only glued the first two rows of strips.

Just keep adding your strips until you have a finished piece.

Like this!!! Use the same technique as in Picture no. 4 adding a strip of cardstock to the last couple of rows just to make it secure both ends. You can trim off the edges at different lengths or you can keep them even for a more uniform look it’s completely up to you, you could even sew it onto your project.

Here is my finished layout with the background added in.
