Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Eva Pizzaro. Eva totally blew me away with her project today - talk about clever! Here are Eva's step by step instructions ...
Hi everyone, welcome to today's Pebbles tutorial! Today I’ll show you how to create a fun note/pen holder for your desk. Start by making the base for your project, cut a 9 ½ inch square and score at 3 ½ and 2 ½ inches on each side. Draw lines on your paper every 1/3 inch, these will help you guide your strips of paper when you start weaving. You can skip this step if you want, I just did it because I wanted to make sure I attached the strips straight.
Flip your paper, cut the folding line on the 4 corners and also a piece of cardstock from every flap you have created (cut 1 inch). Put some double sided adhesive in the middle sections of your paper and assemble your box.
Here’s the box assembled:
Cut strips of patterned paper 1/4 inch wide. I chose 4 colors but I think an odd number would work best.
Start by placing your strips on the box, place the horizontal strips first, leaving one space between them. Then place another strip vertically.
Glue the other horizontal strips.
Lift the first strips you attached and glue the next vertical strip. That way the strip will be on top of some horizontal strips and above others.
Continue doing this till you finish two sides of your box.
With the remaining part of the vertical strips weave the bottom of the box.
Continue with the other two sides until you cover the entire box. Cut the remaining parts of the strips and cover your box with Mod Podge, if you want. (I didn’t do it because I didn’t have a paintbrush at hand). Embellish the top of your box with a scallop border.
To create the tabs simply cut 2.4 x 5.5 inch cardstock, cut the tabs form the upper part and embellish with some brads. Cut some 2.4 x 5 inch paper and divide it between the tabs. You can add more white papers or you can also use it to hold your pens. And here’s the finished project - I hope you like it!
